Estudou com Renée Bonnet de Pietrafesa, Lionel Rogg e
Marie-Claire Alain, Gui Bovet, L. F. Tagliavini, Ton Koopman, Gertrud Mersiovsky e Adelma
Gomez. Tem em seu currículo o I Prêmio de Virtuosismo nos Conservatórios de Genebra e
de Rueil-Malmaison (Paris); Prêmio em Ávila (Espanha) entre outras distinções como a
de ter o seu nome incluído na maior enciclopédia biográfica de músicos do mundo
"Internacional Who´s Who In Music" (Cambridge, Inglaterra). Catedrática de
Órgão na Universidade de Montevidéo, regente do Coral "De Profundis" e foi
diretora do Festival Internacional de Órgão do Uruguai. Investiga sobre instrumentos
antigos em nosso continente. Realiza contínuas giras de concertos pelo mundo. Gravou
vários CDs que lhe outorgaram elogios e prêmios como "Deutsche Schallplaten
Preis", "Grand Prix de l´Academie Française du disque Palmares". A
crônica especializada elogiou sobremaneira seu CD "Das Orgelbüchlein" de J.S.
Bach, gravado em Lyon (França).

Cristina García Banegas studied in Uruguay with Renée Bonnet and
Renée Pietrafesa (piano and organ).
At present she is Professor at the Escuela Universitaria de Música de Montevideo
(National Music Conservatory) as Head of the Organ Courses, founder and Conductor of the
"Ensemble Vocal e Instrumental DE PROFUNDIS" and Artistic Director of the
International Organ Festival in Uruguay.
Her activity as performer is completed with continuous investigation works which involve
both old organs in Latin America and ancient vocal and instrumental manuscripts from XV to
XVIII centuries from the main Colnial centres of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico and
Bolivia.
In 1990 her project "Cataloguing and studying South-American colonial organs"
was published on the "Spirit of Enterprise" published by the Rolex Awards for
Enterprise" in Switzerland.
Among her most important credits one can find the First Virtuosity Prize at the Geneva
Conservatory (Switzerland) as Lionel Rogg's pupil (1981); First Excellence Prize with the
Jury's congratulations at the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory in Paris as Marie-CLaire
Alain's pupil (1982); the " Echeverria Organ Prize " at the International
Conquest in Toledo, Spain (1982) and the second Prize at the International Conquest of
Avila, Spain (1982).
In 1983, the Fraternity Prize awarded by the Uruguayan B'nai B'rith Institution including
a scholarship as soloist for travel to Israel and Europe.
Cristina García Banegas is constantly performing artistic tours as basso-continuist,
organ soloist and choral conducting through Europe, the U.S.A, Japan, Israel, Russia and
Latin America. |
